Although trailers for Suicide Squad made it seem like Jared Leto’s Joker would play a major role in the film, the character hardly appeared in the movie at all, only showing up for a little under eight minutes in the final product. This wasn’t actually what had been planned, as a lot of Leto’s footage ended up on the cutting room floor. A lot of the scenes would have really changed the film, but there was one in particular that might have altered Suicide Squad entirely. In this video, we’re breaking down what you may not have known about Leto in Suicide Squad, especially in context of this scene.
Check out the video below for more of what you might not have realized about Leto’s Joker in Suicide Squad.
Leto’s future in the DCEU is currently unclear. Birds of Prey star Margot Robbie claims he won’t appear in the movie, and the movie’s second trailer saw Harley Quinn blowing up his headquarters. The actor also doesn’t seem to be returning for James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. Additionally, Todd Phillips’ Joker solo film, which starred Joaquin Phoenix, received a lot more praise than Suicide Squad, so it’s very possible Leto won’t return to the role anytime soon, especially considering his obligations to Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters.
