The beginning of a new era for Konami’s football game.
Every year it is the same story in the world of virtual football: PES versus FIFA of Electronic Arts. On the E3 in Los Angeles, the first started working. In a short presentation by Lennart Bobzien, European brand manager, the latest information about Pro Evolution Soccer 2019, after which we get started with the game to experience this change ourselves.
Bobzien tells us about the key pillars of PES 2019, where this year represents the beginning of an era where the PES team is purely focused on the current generation. That is, however, far from the only change, the football game is already reasonably early this year on the shelves: on August 30 to be exact, instead of in September.
We also get the biggest addition in the history of the series of licensing and exclusive Legends in the game, such as David Beckham and Romário (believe it or not: Beckham even has his own exclusive football boots).
Players can exclusively start with the Russian Premjer League, as well as the Dutch Eredivisie, Belgian Jupiler Pro League and among other competitions from Portugal, Scotland, Denmark and Argentina.
As we already knew, Schalke 04 is now an official partner club (Borussia Dortmund no longer) and Konami paid a visit to their home stadium to scan it in its entirety.
This makes it one of the more than 40 football stadium in the game, including exclusive stadiums such as Camp Nou and Allianz Parque in São Paulo, Brazil.
It is no secret that the PES franchise looks great and that has been the case for a couple of years. This is even better now, because the focus on the current generation means 4K and HDR support on all platforms (PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One).
In addition, the Enlighten software is capable of reproducing real lighting and shading for contextual photorealism, which we saw in a series of images. Shadows now change position as the match progresses and these changes (including the addition of snow effects) help the developer to recreate lifelike stadiums.
The myClub mode has also been slightly improved. There are now packages with players in it instead of rotating football balls.
There are also so-called High Performance players who appear during the football season, as well as Players of the Week.
The Master League has an improved negotiation system, budget management and the addition of the International Champions Cup (ICC), which starts before the season starts. As you can see in the trailer below, much more news is added to PES 2019. Players can expect new skills, such as specific features for goalkeepers.
On the basis of our play session, however, we can confirm that it is almost the same PES experience as before.Everything looks much better than ever before.
It is difficult to immediately notice the subtle changes during play, but given the enormously solid foundation this is not a bad thing. Passes seem to require more attention and precision than before, even playing Barcelona, we noticed this immediately.
That causes the necessary frustrations at the beginning, but from experience we know that this is often a matter of habituation. After a while, we notice that and feel the shooting again and we enjoyed our time on the lawn. Written by Sam Bishop / translated from Dutch / original article: Gamereactor.nl
