When we were able to play Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey on the E3 for the first time, we wrote about the similarities and differences to the predecessor Assassin’s Creed: Origins. Although the game handles a lot differently, the comparison is right and logical.
Odyssey comes soon after Origins and the two parts clear their technical basis. Different parts of the interface and the menu structure have also changed little over the years. The similarity is even so striking that the undersigned on social media mistakenly called the wrong title, because the titles also look alike.
This social media post came from a location in Paris, where Ubisoft recently hosted European media and so-called ‘influencers’ for a full day to get started with Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey. What we usually have to do at such preview events with an hour or two or three playing time, this time it was a fat eight o’clock. That is a different matter, but in a way it is just necessary.
Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey puts a lot of emphasis on certain RPG elements that take time to sort out. In fact, for some of those things, such as the impact that the player’s choices have later in the story, even those eight hours are not enough. What did we see?
