You have probably seen things on TV in the past about the detoxing foot pads and thins of the sort, right? Well, you don’t have to buy all that fancy stuff to get the job done, a foot detox is far more simple than most people make it out to be.
There are actually several different ways you can detox through your feet. Some people prefer one method over another, but personally, I like them all pretty well. According to Chinese medicine, there are energy points in our feet that are linked to different organs so if you are able to get them all just right you can work to detox them. Below you will find several of the different ways you can detox your feet if you think it would be something you are interested in. These are all relatively simple, relaxing, and make a huge difference.
3 Ways You Can ‘Detox’ Through Your Feet:
1. Salt Detox Bath
This can be done for your whole body or just your feet, that is up to you. I personally do this one for my whole body, but not everyone is into that idea. With that being said, it is probably the easiest out of the ones on this list in my opinion.
Things Needed:
1 cup of Epsom salt
1 cup of sea salt
2 cups of baking soda
1 cup ACV apple cider vinegar
Instructions:
Add everything into hot water. You can do this in the tub or if you want to do it just for your feet use a small container or foot bath. If you opt for the foot bath reduce the measurements by half. Mix things until they dissolve and then get in leave your feet submerged for about 20-30 minutes. I also like to scrub my feet close to the end with a rough sponge as it helps with dead skin.
2. Oxygen Foot Bath
Things Needed:
2 cups of hydrogen peroxide
2 tablespoons of dried ginger powder
Instructions:
Fill the container or tub with hot water and add everything in. Soak for about 30 minutes, be it whole body or just feet. This one will also need to be done for about 30 minutes. While it sounds simple, it is quite useful.
3. Clay Foot Bath
Things Needed:
1 cup of bentonite clay
1 cup of Epsom salt
(ACV if you want)
Instructions:
For this one, you will need to dissolve the Epsom salt in a hot bath and mix the clay into some water until the clumps are mostly gone. Add the clay to the bath, and soak for 30 minutes. This will feel a bit odd at first, but give it a few tries before you decide if you like it. It is quite an interesting experience.
There is limited research on this kind of thing, but Chinese medicine seems to suggest a good foot soak and even a foot massage after can do great things to detox the body. Regardless they are also quite relaxing and are a great way to help revive circulation in your feet as well. Tons of people swear by things like this, there has to be something to it. Keep in mind also that any of your preferred essential oils can also be added to these baths.
While you will see tons of different foot bath recipes out there these are by far the most simple and effective. You can scrub at any point during your foot bath, but I like to wait until close to the end. Have you ever taken the time to soak your feet and if so did you notice any differences?
